Harry Reems essays five roles here in a "trial" centered around the alleged obscenity of the movie "Love Witch," about a floating bordello with its two customers, which has just opened in his small southern town. But if obscenity there is, it's found in the non-linear plot, mostly softcore sex, scant hardcore footage, mostly fake cumshots and poor writing. Released in 1973, the film, for all its focus on Reems, who was by then the first male "porn star," sadly underuses him, and he appears to have been hired here (by the same folks who produced Deep Throat) to give some marketability to the abysmal "film within the film."
