These days, a pop star with a slutty background is not much of a stretch of the imagination as it is a career requirement. Nevertheless, Simone makes a believable choice for the role of a beautiful girl too short to make the modeling scene but ideal for hipping and hopping between bed and studio.
Spinning her tale first person (via a radio interview) Simone recounts her rise to stardom for a local L.A. deejay. The action reveals itself on screen sans dialogue - much like a narrated documentary; although when Simone's on screen she often breaks the third wall to make comic asides for the audience.
While the details of her story aren't especially profound, some of the sex scenes are deep. Tamia's encounter with Rockman; Nikki's grope with Seth and finally Simone's imbroglio with Tee may not set records for specific acts of perversion, but they're all prime examples of sizzling interracial lust. The only problem with the lively sex scenes is that the audio mix plays down the natural sex sounds in favor of the music.
Speaking of: the original, highly danceable hip-hop music trax (by Freaky D) and smooth video compositions (by the director/videographer) help boost this effort beyond its banal storyline.
