There was a time when director Clive McLean - a name that's almost as synonymous with the Hustler brand as that of Larry Flynt himself - could easily hit a few homers in every other rotation at bat. Lately, however, he seems more than content with a sloppy single with no chance of advancing to even second base. In this effort, it appears that he didn't even suit up for the game at all. He merely called in his plays from his cell phone as he zipped around town on more important errands.
Gone are the lush mansions and soft lens focus. What we get, instead, are five plodding scenes clearly shot on garish sets in a claustrophobic studio. The only interesting scene is the fourth, "Locker Room Lust," starring Kate and Serena. The girls have underdeveloped, adolescent-like bodies, leaving the distinct impression that the scene is a discard from McLean's other Hustler series, Barely Legal.
