If Mother Teresa had been in the porn business, she surely would've helped younger performers find their way through what can be an extremely overwhelming industry. Vivid Alt performer/director Dana DeArmond set out on just such a benevolent mission with her latest title, Role Modeling.

As narrated by the charitable starlet - who got her start as an Internet personality - the title follows all of the people who contact DeArmond on the Net, wanting to know how they can get involved in the porn industry. The sexual philanthropist then picked her five favorite amateur candidates and made a flick about them.

What might seem merely like an amusing idea quickly turns into one of the only amateur releases that actually makes sense. DeArmond shows the ladies - and one guy, personally - the porn ropes. They, in turn, provide some great scenes. Starlets Andy San Dimas and Rory Tonic lay down the hottest trysts, but all of 'em pack some serious heat.

The business certainly has its hang-ups, and the title doesn't shy away from this fact. Candid interviews accompany all of the scenes, during which the newcomers - who are as much brains as they are private parts - try to wrap their minds around their sexual decisions.

Per usual, Vivid Alt provides some fine musical jams to go along with the sex. The three-disc Role Modeling set features a CD soundtrack including OK Fox, Culture Prophet, The Deaf, Tuff Loves, Manhattan Music Box and Driver of the Year.

Part Alfred Kinsey, part gonzo, part rock 'n' roll; this one is a keeper. Leave it to the detail-obsessed art kids at Vivid Alt to make an amateur title that all other amateur titles should aspire to be.

Retailing: Vivid Alt and DeArmond team up again to give the kids (and some adults) what they want.
