Obviously taking its cue from MTV's pro wrestling dramality series Tough Enough, this documentary is far more intriguing and eye-opening than just about any reality show you'll ever see on MTV or elsewhere.
The premise is this: a group of girls and guys hoping to break into the porn biz are put through their paces by porn mega-performer and director Jewel De'Nyle, to see if they have "it," as they say. And De'Nyle is one tough drill instructor. She is as hard and nasty a performer as they come; Nacho Vidal and Rocco Siffredi, she tells these deerlings, are her male counterparts. So they had better be prepared to do the kind of dirty, disgusting shit that she does, or pack their bags. Because "if you don't go all the way," she warns gloomily, "you're a flash in the pan."
Now those who watch this vid need to be prepared to have whatever illusions they harbor about porn and the actualities of performing in it completely shattered. As De'Nyle points out at the beginning, what looks sexy on screen is often awkward, straining and uncomfortable for the performer. But they have to make it look like they're having the best fuck of their lives, while constantly being aware of giving the best shot to both the hardcore and softcore cameras.
There are six "lessons" that De'Nyle teaches: girl/girl, b.j., solo, girl/girl with accessories, anal and boy/girl. In each case, she proves mighty well why she's the pro and they're not, but it's her masturbation master class where it comes through most strikingly; the difference between what student Kat does - which looks good while she's doing it - and what De'Nyle does immediately afterward is staggering. And that, you suddenly realize with shocking clarity, is what it takes to be a porn star.
