Reviews

Rich and spoiled girls get all the fun - and show no appreciation for it - in this extremely stylish tale of conspiracies, secret courts and private punishments.

According to the narrator, the French Theatre de Gran Guigol was a tourist attraction that featured bloody and grotesque vignettes rumored to sometimes feature real criminals truly being tormented. Somehow three Ivy League sorority sisters with porn star quality bodies find themselves in the Theatre's dungeons. Apparently, the Theatre has a contract with D.A.R.E., because the heinous crime being addressed is a petty theft committed in order to buy drugs. Each scene is associated with a title drawn from a computer game-like menu from the beginning of the tape.

"Justice" explains the sins of the three girls in slinky dresses and high heels and shows how they try to seduce their jailors by stripping naked, smooching, and describing the pleasures their bodies could afford. "Sentence" features a gargoyle handing down a sentence of naked whipping. "Interrogation" is self-explanatory, but requires nudity and an endless condemnation of drug use and sale. "Pain" shows a stylistic single tailing and piercing of nipples. "The Bull Whip" centers on a flogging and use of a single tail accompanied by an evocative use of light and shadow.

At no time does a whip tip appear to actually touch any femme flesh, but each girl is shown with ribbons of bloody impact stripes for effect.

Although the narration and concept are more than a little melodramatic and the play is theatrical, this is nonetheless an erotic and stylish tale with just enough camp to keep it from being cheesy. Video effects are strong and effective throughout and the softcore approach should appeal to those who like the idea of Edgar Allan Poe or Anne Rice style thrillers but not the reality of S/M.
