While Ritual is a strong contender for most beautiful video ever shot, with production values that put most mainstream music videos to shame, it is also guilty of living up to Michael Ninn's most criticized works in that it has both an impenetrable plot and lackluster sex. In fact, the sex really seems to have been the third or fourth thing on Ninn's mind, coming somewhere behind videog-raphy, lighting, editing, fog machines, chrome enema syringes used to squirt lube, and even a speculum (which is showcased in the best scene in the vid).
The DVD is positively gorgeous, with resolution so sharp you feel like you could reach out and slap Tyce Bune (and when you see his acting, you might just want to). The extras are extremely minimal, consisting of a cast list, a tiny photo gallery, and an Internet link to VCA's Website. There are, however, plenty of chapter stops.
