Critics of rock videos often complain that this form of entertainment often leaves a lot to be desired in terms of long-term viewer interest. Basically, they're OK to watch for a few minutes at a time, but usually they're among the dullest forms of video entertainment available. Well unfortunately, Bobby Hollander's latest, The Pussywillows, proves this stereotype true as it combines the worst aspects of rock video, with some fairly dull adult video.
The Pussywillows is the story of an all-girl rock band who slime their way to the top of the music video charts. The "music video" scenes are incredibly pretentious and so unrealistic looking that you'll be laughing when you should be singing! Hollander, usually one of my favorites, attempts to splice in some hot sex but he constantly ruins the developing passion of the scenes by switching camera shots every other second. In particular, the scene between busty Robin Cannes and Marc Wallace, is lost in a sea of blurring cameras reminiscent of amateur trying out their new video cameras.
The only bright spot in The Pussywillows occurs when Susan Hart trades in her trumpet for Tom Byron's organ in a hot interlude halfway through the video. every once in a while, even a porno guru like Bobby Hollander, is entitled to supply video stores with a true dust collector!
