I've seen all of these all-black or nearly all-black video features and I've yet to be impressed. Obviously, there's a big audience for this material, as these tapes always seem to sell in decent numbers. But the producers and directors of these tapes seem to think that all you have to do is throw a bunch of black actors on the set, give them a few dumb lines and shoot a few sex scenes. If you want to have a huge hit, you have to do something with this talent.
Jack Genero is as guilty as his predecessors. The sex scenes here are standard and tame, sometimes shot from a distance that makes the performers look like a blur. The camera's not always in the right place, either. Fortunately, a couple of the scenes are fairly hot, especially a lesbian segment with Linda Thompson (a round-breasted newcomer) and Sahara, already a veteran of the all-black genre.
Nonetheless, this vague takeoff on Dynasty, with its pregnancies, missing money and pointless ranch scenes (a la another prime-time soap) features stiff acting and sexual performances that lack energy throughout. Black Dynasty will definitely appeal to those looking for this kind of tape. However, that's a big audience, one that deserves something a little better.
