Well, I suppose as the last item on a reduced shelf, Grand Opening could be considered a bargain. It is a varied but bland mixing of couplings and triplings between seven people celebrating the grand opening of their new shopping mall.

Sure, this film is mostly sex, and there is a lot of it, but the viewer doesn't really get his/her money's worth. The opening (ooops!) scenes, featuring Barrington/James and Rose/Byron in some morning action, are marred by cross-cuttings that are prime examples of "video interruptus." The only time that one can really sense much enthusiasm is during an Obligatory Lesbian Scene between Boyer and Penny Morgan in which the girls find happiness with one another and a "two-seater" dildo.

In a sea of adult video that is rapidly growing both in number and in sophistication, unmemorable, uneventful titles like Grand Opening are easy to lose in the shuffle. And it is no great loss, either. What as recently as five or six years ago passed in the erotic marketplace, won't stay in business long past a "grand opening."
