The newest of the low-priced 30-minute collectible lines, Quick Flix, debuts with a sexual montage, put together by Roy Karch, one of the better practitioners of shot-on-video. Unfortunately, Karch is too good here, attempting to capture an MTV flair with sexual vignettes, only to find himself exercising his video editing skills.
No cohesive sex scenes exist, only snippets edited together in clashing styles. Therefore, with no erotic build-up, the quick cuts of Quick Flix make for an assault on the eyes. Set to original, but generic-sounding music, the sexual vignettes involve lots of stars. But as pieces of erotica, it just doesn’t work, even if Karch does succeed in being technically clever.
Quick Flix – Volume 1 is a nice attempt to do something different. However, for an adult videotape, something more erotic is needed.
