There is no denying the growing market for interracial productions. But the use here of duplicate footage, poor audio and video qualities, and chop-edited sex scenes combine to make Lifestyles of the Black and Famous anything but erotic and/or entertaining.

The one good point of this whole show is Penny Morgan. This vivacious blond attacks her role —and the men's rolls— with plenty of sexual energy. But even her character can't make up for the rest of the cast's poor performance. And most of the lines are lost anyway to audio that roller-coasters in volume.

The story has a good premise; a TV program showcasing rich black men who control white women. But director-writer-producer Jim Travis does not develop enough of a plot to even fill a full-length feature. Obvious duplicate footage and a 10-minute segment of another Wet Video interracial video are scattered throughout the vid to stretch the tape.

Even the sex, which we expect to be the strong point of a shot-on-video feature, falls short of delivery thanks to choppy editing. Positions change with camera angles, there is no feeling of build-up leading to a climax, and in one case we miss the wet shot altogether. And the lack of video clarity becomes eye-straining.

This tape will still probably sell because of the black-on-white couplings. But besides that "taboo," don't expect much else.
