What could have been an excellent video production becomes entangled in an all-star cast. Director Paul G. Vatelli gets bogged down making sure all the seasoned adult performers in One Night in Bangkok have at least one sex scene, and that sheer number forces the scenes to appear repetitive and unstimulating.

John Leslie is by far the cream of the crop here. He portrays a retiring Navy captain who wants to take his Oriental mistress (Mai Lin) back to the states with him. Their touching reunion and subsequent rekindling of desires is something right out of Hollywood... only with hardcore action. The four sailors on liberty (Buck Adams, Jerry Butler, Joey Silver, Kevin James) have a hard time having fun, until some female companions show up to have fun when it's hard.

Production wise, there are no complaints: the lighting, audio and camerawork is uniformly excellent. It's a shame the same can't be said for these sailors' story. The quantity of sex limits dialogue, but provides a vent for the cast's erotic energy. The Butler/Tish Ambrose, Silvera/Mariko, Adams/Melissa Melendez and James/Kristara Barrington couplings provide the desire and urgency you would expect from seamen on land for the first time in months. Other scenes are less inspiring in this slightly above-average romp.
