The Spinoff-Of-The-Month Award has got to go to Midnight Zone, but not so much for a brilliant parody of Twilight Zone: The Movie and the TV series (including one of the better Rod Serling voice-overs). Better put, this video has found a zone of its own where the phone company has yet to apply an area code.

The four stories that make up this quadrilogy are eccentric: "My Chance To Cream," where Gina Carrera is the quintessential wet dream. But is she alive? "Better Not Touch" has a Cro-Magnon type boy next door (Scott Irish) exerting some weird spells over parents and friends until a severe oral tongue lashing from Lisa DeLeeuw. Earth virgin (Sheri Stewart) gets some interesting sex therapy from an extra-terrestrial who is a few notches uglier than E.T. in "Seleh," and, in "Wetdream at 20,000 Feet" you'll find a high volume orgy on a flight not many of us are likely to book. The moral of this story: don't go coach.

Midnight Zone is one of the more ambitious, sophisticated attempts I've seen in a shot-on-video feature. The camera effects are as zonked-out as the stories, particularly the Carrera dream sequence in the first featurette that lends new meaning to "mood indigo." For you fans of the classic hand job, Gina Valentino as a stewardess in "Wetdream . . ." sends one co-pilot past the speed of sound. And, hold on to your seat belts, the acting is pretty decent throughout. A thought usually unheard of in most sequels.

True to its billing, Midnight Zone penetrates another dimension. Some of its competition has a few light years to catch up. It's nearly on par with Caballero's first two Erotic Zones collections.
