Getting L.A.'d is one of several recent adult features whose title has nothing to do with the story. Here, Nina Hartley is on vacation to forget her lover (Jamie Gillis), who left her for some clandestine assignment that is never explained. Is she in Los Angeles? We're never told. And Gillis is only the first of a long list of stars who appear here in one scene and then are gone. This may keep the sexual pairings fresh, but it does nothing to portray a coherent script.

But despite the splintered story, the sex is handed out in hot and heavy doses. Hartley is the center of attention, and shines in a four-person orgy in which Buck Adams mounts her from behind and looks like he's auditioning for Urban Cowboy. She also teams up with Amber Lynn in a lesbian romp that is heated, but totally irrelevant to the story. Lynn is also stunning in her three-way, which is good because her partners look like they'd rather be somewhere else. And Ron Jeremy is funny as the green fisherman who gets a hand with his rod from Bunny Bleu and Kari Foxx.

Director Miles Kidder does a nice job of taping the action, but the actual video clarity and color are not up to par (I tried to adjust my set, but nothing helped). Also, some of the money spent to have a "star's" services for one day, should have been spent instead on scenery. The boat cabin is cheap looking, and Hartley's bedroom doubles as her out-of-town hotel room. But all in all, the silly story and less-than-perfect production qualities do not squelch the eroticism in Getting L.A.'d.
