Harem Girls is a "porn period piece" (no jokes about it being a bloody mess, please), set somewhere in Arabia, time unknown. It's a rather hokey comedy, with some good throwaway gag lines. Hey, but this is porn, not the Marx Brothers.

The plot centers on a sultan (Herschel Savage, who brings new meaning the word "corny" in his Dime-Store sultan outfit) who's not satisfied with his bevy of dark-haired beauties. He's advised by his soothsayer to take a bride to solidify his position. But he doesn't want any — until he learns of the beautiful "Golden-haired" European in his midst. Enter one Barbara Dare, hailed as the new "Erotic Sensation of the Decade." She's got a long way to go to fulfill that promise, although she is pretty hot. Barbara is attractive, acts fairly well, and can get rather vocal while the sultan slips his pipe to her. She shows promise, but Ginger and Traci shouldn't start shaking in their steamy beds yet.

There's an evil sultan (Ron Jeremy, who else?) who enlists the aid of his concubine to kill Savage. Along the way, there's an orgy and Dare falls under the spell of Savage. However, for a film set in the desert, some of the humidity is missing, leaving a rather dry affair.

Harem Girls is pretty decent, but I can sure think of a lot of better uses for a harem. Can any genies out there grant my wish?
