Rockey X , porn's first anti-drug tape (see producer's note at the end of the feature), exceeds the recent Rocky IV movie in both style and story ... as well as heat, of course. It's an unpretentious, well-acted derivative of the Rocky boxing saga, with a flavorful amount of good sex thrown in.

Buck Adams plays the slightly maniacal Dracks, the steroid-filled number one contender to Rockey's title, who kills his own sparring partner in the ring. Manager John Holmes uses his magic wand to appease a female reporter, but the boxing commission cancels the scheduled championship bout anyway.

Rockey (Jerry Butler), after sleeping with wife Melissa Melendez, goes to the same gymnasium as Adams, only to be confronted by the lunatic. After an exchange on insults, they challenge each other to a tape-ending private fight, which leaves them bloody, battered and ready for a sequel.

Rockey X, aided by superior acting from Adams, Butler, Holmes and Karen Summers as a doctor, and a pretty good script from Adams and director Pat Roggins, uses sex as a plot device that rarely slows down the story. It's a rare treat. Although there are some plot flaws, it's refreshing to see such quality acting in an adult video.

Sexually, the feature works well, especially with the underrated Karen Summers who handles both Adams and Holmes in separate segments, as well as wrestling and eating a whore in a pretty hot (though pointless to the story) lesbian scene. Adams gets a bit kinky with this prostitute as well, and shows strength and acrobatic skill in other sex scenes.

The direction and video quality is fine. Although neither Butler nor Adams look like professional boxers, their fight scene is at least as realistic looking as the recent Wrestlemania II boxing match between Rowdy Roddy Piper and Mr. T.
