Boy, is this a strange tape! Love Scenes For Loving Couples is, indeed, a compilation of scenes selected, one supposes, for couples to watch together. Some of the biggest names in the industry are here – John Holmes, Eric Edwards, John Leslie, Kelly Nichols and Annette Haven. But except for the first clip, which is an edit of several scenes from Nothing To Hide showing the growing relationship of Tigr (Chelsea Manchester) and Richard Pancheco, there is little here to distinguish this tape from others in the couples market for several reasons.
One of the ideals of couples tapes is, if not a full-fledged story, there should be at least some cohesiveness between scenes, some reason for the players to engage in sex. It starts out promisingly. But after the first sequence, all we’re left with are clips, some of which are pretty good (John Leslie and Angel, Eric Edwards and Kelly Nicholas), but none that truly involve the viewer.
A major flaw is narration that belabors the obvious – no one needs to have Kimberly Carson inform us that sexologists think voyeurism is okay, or that the beaches of Hawaii from a romantic backdrop for sex. Besides, this isn’t an Hawaiian beach at all, but a Southern Cal beach in a scene from 3 A.M.
Had the tape stuck with the format introduced with the Pacheco/Tigr clip, it may have been more successful. The first two Cal Vista compilations, especially Only The Best, are more on the mark.
