Oriental Jade proves the maxim that quantity does not always mean quality. This production is loaded with sex but the high numbers don't allow for the development of any particularly intense scene. The loose plot centers around writer Harry Reems and the difficulties he has finishing a script for a porno film. Most of the story is told in flashbacks as we see various studio big shots gather to talk about shooting upcoming scenes.
On the plus side, Oriental Jade has an excellent mixture of interior and exterior shots, the photography is clear and the sound is mixed well. Unfortunately, many of the sexual encounters don't last long enough and there is too much camera switching from one couple to another during sequences.
As one couple nears climax, chimpanzees go crazy with their screaming, and that's about the only touch of humor in the entire film and I don't think the director meant it to be funny.
Oriental Jade is a slightly better than average film that should leave most viewers reasonably satisfied.
