In a sex film there's always the risk of adhering to a one woman roadshow. In the case of Sizzling Summer (a purported film bio of adult actress Karen Summer) it's a case of either you like Karen Summer or you don't. And if you don't, there's no practical purpose served by waiting around till the fat lady sings, because there is none. Fat or skinny.
Which means Summer is left to do sexual standup. A very chancy premise to base the cost of a feature film on. Summer intros flashbacks of her life in a manner suggestive of her talking to a shrink. Whether the facts are all true, the elements still tend to touch raw nerve.
One gets the impression she's putting the whole hook for her skin career on a busted relationship with an ex-boyfriend/bozo named Jimmy who runs off with a bimbo named Jennifer. Jimmy apparently was "the only man" or at lest Summer is so convinced as she, in essence, revenge f**ks her way through a parade of an adult industry morons, all, coincidentally, with first names beginning with the letter "J." That is, until some clip joint male model named Bruce (Dan T. Mann) happens along to spoil the roll.
From a heat standpoint, not too many creative situations come along to stoke the fires of variety here. No other girls show up to provide comic relief, and Summer's just about literally left holding the bag. But if you're a Summerite you're going to check out the film. It's as simple as that.
