It'd be damning with faint praise to say that this is better than its TV counterpart, so instead I'll simply say that Dy-Nasty is a breezy, steamy, on-target spoof of nighttime soaps that is one of the best recent releases to come down the pike. John Leslie is the filthy rich patriarch of the Barringtons who has a propensity for falling out of windows and developing amnesia when told of Wall Street disasters. He's unaware that second wife Sparkle (Nina Hartley) is sleeping with the butler (Robert Bullock) and plotting to ruin him. His daughters (Ariel Knight and Shauna McCullough) are accosting skid row bums, and ex-wife Slexis (Kathleen Jentry) has been kidnapped by aliens. Before long father and daughters are in bed together, Slexis is teaching her gay son (also Bullock) the joys of heterosexuality, and the stage is set for a sequel.

The casting for this feature is right on the money. Leslie seems to be down to one or two scenes these days, but always makes the most of them. Hartley's outwardly dim'* persona makes her the perfect Linda Evans doppelganger, and Jentry is a suitably stylish Collins satire. Bullock does his double duty well, ditto Jamie Gillis both as the alien king who abducts Jentry and as a slimy TV preacher, a character we hope to see more of. McCullough and Knight are a screen pair who always set off sparks, whether it's in an all-girl encounter or their big two-on-one with Leslie. The production values here are to an average adult feature what the Barrington mansion is to a Cape Cod, and it really pays off. Dy-Nasty is one serial that deserves a continued run.
