A golden oldie re-edited to an R-rating for cable release, Cassie should be generally well-received. Marilyn Chambers plays an aspiring country singer who gets her big break when she is booked as the opening act for singing legend Althea Anderson (Lisa De Leeuw.)

Unfortunately, Althea has been hitting the booze, pills and love servant a bit too heavily and is on the way down as Cassie's star is rising. Will Cassie escape Althea's rage, get national recognition and find well-endowed love before the film's end? (Need you ask?)

Although there is some nudity and action to keep late night viewers awake, the editing has been fairly severe in places – much of the sex activity is simply implied. Besides Ms. Chambers' physical charms and screen talents, the film features several so-so country numbers which aren't bad for an adult feature, but are not going to give k.d. Lang sleepless nights. All in all, Cassie should appeal to couples who like country music and can fill in the missing action on their own. Mostly for stores who can't carry hardcore or who have clientele for soft stuff.
