About seven-eighths into this video you start as king yourself questions, like what the heck is this all about? Who is this girl Mariana (Sheri St. Clair) and why does Buddy Love keep asking questions about her. Jerry Butler and his girlfriend Danielle are supposed to be harboring her and they don't even know why. Abduction? Federal Witness Protection Program? Is she weird; is she cool? Did Herschel Savage and Billy Dee kidnap her? Is she wanted for interstate flight to avoid credit card payments? Who cares? There's an old saying in the biz: If it doesn't happen by the end of the first reel, nothing is going to happen. By token of my questions, you be the judge.

Strip Search is a nice little foray into the realm of visual erotica, but little else recommends this sketchy melodrama. Jerry Butler gives off an interesting performance as the owner of a waterfront strip club, caught between Rambo muscle exhibition and Huntz Hall dialog. But the strip club vehicle at least affords us the opportunity of lusting visual doses of flesh — one of the rare times that a story built around an exotic club format gives us some exotic routines to recommend. In this case I was quite taken by Nikki Charm's charm — a throwback to a quaint, but well-appreciated form of fanny exhibition. And the lady does know how to throw her legs around. I almost didn't recognize St. Clair with hair pinned up and looking like she's been on a three-month watercress diet. As it turns out (and it won't spoil the video) her character is supposed to be from big bucks, so she arranges for her "disappearance" to see how far her lover, Buddy Love will go to chase her. I guess the point being she wants to be loved for things other than mutual funds and CD's. It certainly won't be for her performance in this video.
