There is something about sequels I hate. Especially when they have nothing to do with the original. Babyface was about a male cathouse and Babyface Part 2 is about a bachlorette party. It is, however, as bizarreas the original, and that is due to the brilliant mind and genius of Alex De Renzy.
His first stroke is to have every character use his or her real first name, a great aid for us reviewers. This also allows for each charactor to play themselves in personality (which is a boon to the acting ability of some of them). The second plus is the opulent feel of the movie, from outdoor and indoor sets, nice cars, Jacuzzis, and a house with more than one room. Third is Jamie Gillis, who is probably the best pure actor in the film. He plays a stumblebum who is hired as an erotic dancer, but it's his magic wand that turns the party into one of the hottest orgies in memory. De Renzy's use of a strobe-light effect gives it the look of frenetic fornication — people completely out of control, doing unnatural acts, unthinkable pleasures, and everything erotic. You'll forget these are actors who do this for a living, and will believe they are young people under a spell.
Every sexual scene is perfectly played, and every character has a superior sexual performance playing him or her. Nikki Charm is the storyteller operating in flashback. My only minor quarrel is that in the opening, Nikki refers to an older woman doing something with the young guys (a typical De Renzy scenario), but then nothing happens. As good as this movie is, I'd like to have been party to that one. Oh, well, nobody's perfect, although Babyface 2 comes close.
