Blonde and voluptuous adult star Cris Cassidy came out of retirement to take an active role in the production of a brand new line of lesbian tapes geared to, what I would have to assume from the direction these first two productions take, a "couples" market in a romantic manner and mode similar to Femme Productions in the hetero sphere.
Cassidy scores solidly with Erotic In Nature - an outdoor homily to the sensual playmaking between two loving females, scored with deft camera touches, pretty locations and crisp eroticism.
Cassidy still looks great both in her solo stint as she pleasures herself almost unmercifully (writhing like a Fu Manchu torture victim) with a garden hose, and then in her tender lovemaking with the whipcord-like Kit Marseilles. There's a certain quiet elegance in the way their sexy scene is shot.
Chalk it up to perhaps a winded sense of enthusiasm, but Hay Fever, "an erotic cowgirl comedy," tries to ride too much of the range and winds up falling off the horse. Do you call a script which seems to have more speaking parts than a dickens novel, a tad overextended, as dyke cowpokes seem to drop out of trees on their way to a roundup? The acting? Well, envision a plot that would have Tony Montana and Don Fernando picking banjos and reverse the roles. When consternation reigns, you look for familiar faces. Voila, Nina Hartley, who looks angelic and airbrushed. But try to figure why she's smack dab on a brass bed, smack dab in the middle of the woods, playing mild bondage games. And with an ample running time, the sex scenes should have sought optimum pairings rather than random luck drawings. No sparks - sorry.
A nice, attractive outdoor production helps significantly to get over the rough spots, but the saddle sores may linger long after Hartley rides into the sunset, hand-in-hand with her female lover.
For the best real-life lesbian material, grab a copy of Erotic In Nature. Since these tapes have yet to enter into mainstream distribution, retailers and consumers are invited to contact the company directly for ordering information. Write Tiger Rose Distributing, P.O. Box 609, Cotati, CA 94928. Or call (707) 578-3336. Ask for Suzanne Myers (a.k.a. Cris Cassidy).
