Don Ho can have his "Tiny Bubbles." I'll take Becky "Bubbles" LeBeau whose physical attributes hardly qualify for tiny. And that's the premise of Active's reactivation into glamour video waters (see other titles like Girls Of Malibu and Beverly Hills Callgirls).
If you read the companion Virginia Bell piece in this section, then you got a pretty good idea what this tape's about. Becky LeBeau, one of the top cheesecake models in the biz, invites two of her girlfriends over for an afternoon's eyeful of chest by the pool, and if you hold on to your shorts to the very end, a brief, but all too brief, flash of behind. (For fully Becky nakedness, check out the review of Takin' It All Off.)
It seems like everybody's getting into the T&A act, and it's about time. Time to pick up the slack of the adult industry that's losing valuable consumer points with some of the sexually inert, cheap product that's coming out on the market. If any company's going to do it and do it right, it will be Active. They have the consumer track record to prove it.
The Becky tape is spirited and cute, but if you're going to commit to figgle you might as well go all the way. Active is bordering oh so close, (why the change, guys?) it might as well jump into water instead of assuming shy, poolside tentativeness.
Bikini tapes are another hot item on the market, and Wild Bikinis is the perfect formula tape. It has the contest (outdoors) and the game show host-style voiceovers with the inevitable 99.9 percent blonde participants. Some partial nudity, but not during hte actual contest. Heaven's no. Not in Palm Springs, for Pete's sake.
Here's a thing that totally confounds me about Super Models. We've got a 30 minute slide montage of California girls without moving parts. If you've seen other Active Home Video tapes, you'll recognize a lot of the ladies. Many of the slides depict the models totally all together. Why is it perfectly sound to exhibit a woman that way and then cop out in a shot-on-video feature? When you come up with a sensible answer to that one, let me know. Aside from that, the tape wasn't really intended for release, originally, but receives such overwhelming demand in its preview that the company decided to go ahead with it. It's doing exceptionally well in the mainstream market by all reports.
