I read a flyer describing this video as "a unique view of foreplay erotica from a woman's perspective."  Because I didn't come across one of those Surgeon General's warnings that all men caught viewing it would be castrated - no questions asked, I chanced a look-see to get a male view of the female point of view.  So sue me.

Yo, adult video industry, watch out.  Somebody's sneaking up on you, and the formula might well lie in the contents of this highly arousing, energetic and totally absorbing 106 minutes of non-explicit boy/girl artful petting.  Actually, it's totally ironic that Love Scenes, minus the obvious, dangling male participle, is precisely what adult movies were before they went hardcore - involving and exciting because the couples took time to play with, fondle, stimulate and touch one another with heart-pounding caresses.  THOSE were adult movies.

Save for less emphasis on missionary (or other imaginative) body logistics, Love Scenes isn't really doing anything that hasn't been done before in the alternative adult video market, either.  But from what I can gather with this first volume, it's just doing it a wee bit better.  Looks-wise, it has a knockout cast and features four episodes that bring men and women together in love clinches, with the woman being totally in control of the situation nand the aggressor in the relationship.  Like when it's the lady's turn to "audition" the aspiring hopeful as the lovely Paula Revee convinces the darkly handsome Jesse Garcia into shedding his clothes to land a part in a Las Vegas Revue.  The shoe's on the other foot when photographer Michelle Carelli talks biker guy/drifter-type Danny embarrassing into more revealing poses.  Man, you've seen all these dodges before with the guy usually getting the upper hand.  Now, it's the gals' night out.  Hurray for them.

Though Love Scenes features both full frontal male and female nudity, it's done tastefully and playfully with the camera zealously working the contours of the human anatomy like a mine sweep without sacrifice to annoying cuts, trivial edits or other distracting gimmicks.  Couples should find the straightforward technique provocative yet non-graphically embarrasing to watch.  Quite frankly, I found the little episode of living room grab-ass played between blonde Sheryl Wood and Playgirl centerfold Bobby Sands in the "Palm Springs Pool Man" episode to be far more exciting than some phonus-balonus simulated sex scene or hardcore aerobic.

AVN has given only one AAAAA rating in its history and that to John Stagliano's Wild Goose Chase, a XXX film.  Though we apply different sets of standards to alternative adult product, rate Love Scenes five stars on your video shopping list.  It's perfect, stimulating sexual entertainment, and I look foward to more of these types of productions.  This is the way it ought to be done!!
