Reviews

Some brother & sister acts do go beyond the norms of socially acceptable behavior. As "identical twins" Nina Hartley and Joey Silvera go slightly beyond credibility. But physical similarities are the least of the issues here. Hartley and Silvera are entwined in a physical compulsion that seems to be going beyond time and space.

A graveyard Vangelis-like music score is intriguing in more ways than one. It delivers the sex with style over substance but in a more successfully subterranean way, delivers the taboo of incest here more poignantly into the heart of darkness than the previous Taboo features.

Hartley plays Doreen Torney, the star of a daytime soap, who is obsessed in real life with her brother, Dalton (Silvera). He fornicates, she, feeling the intensity of his male presence from whatever physical distance separates them, masturbates. Naturally, this has some disturbing repercussions on her marriage to Scott Irish who is fed up with this sibling revelry. A divorce notwithstanding, Hartley's realization, at the behest of psychic former lives sessions (she's told that she and Silvera have been lovers since time began), is that she must destroy her brother's pending nuptials to Michelle (Britt Morgan). Generally confined to southern doll bimbo roles, Morgan gets her first, honest chance to do some acting and she delivers a first-rate awards-consideration performance.

The sexual elements of this feature are first rate intense. Though strictly cameo, Alicia Monet delivers a torrid encounter with Silvera. And the long-awaited tryst between Hartley and Silvera delivers masterfully executed sexual orchestration.

There are elements that seem out of place here. Frank James' role would have had better credencehad he been a gypsy sidekick to Bela Lugosi in The Werewolf. Both he, as psychic pimp to tarot mistress Krista Lane, and Lane herself give me a feeling that crystal ball gazing is on the same level as staring into the front headlamp of a 77 Ford Granada. Be that aside take the sweat and ethereal eroticism of Taboo VI and be happy, as it's an erotic triumph.
