It's not the actual lovemaking sometimes, but the getting there that's half the fun. Unfortunately Modern Love 2, as beautifully shot and edited as it is, forgets to make some strategic pit stops on the highway to ecstasy.

The tape is supposed to be a depiction of "ways to bring passion into a mundane world", but it seems to forget the passion and goes in for the kill, zeroing in, rather, on an amorphous tableaux of couples humping one another R-rated doggie style. This is a problem that all tapes in this genre seem to be having -- a curious aversion to foreplay and all of its intricacies, nuances and visual delights. Same thing happened in the first edition of Modern Love and similar tapes such as How to Make Love to the Same Person Forever and How to Make Love to Your Lover.

When, in a sketch entitled "Slow Dancing" we see a gent in the arms of a fetching long-haired blonde in a short black dress, we half expect to see his hand reach for her zipper to help her out of said dress. Boy, are we fooled. This doesn't happen and the quick transition is made to gal and guy tusseling on the floor like Hulk Hogan vs. the Federal Narcotics Unit. Very porno-ish in execution.

The same thing happens again in a scenario entitled, ironically, "Tease Me" which has no tease but does have the woman wrapping a blindfold around her lover's eyes. I guess the tease element comes into play when she leads him out to the backyard, sticks a cigarette in his mouth and teases him about how many Nicaraguan storm troopers with AK-47s are about to make his day.

The fact that these kinds of tapes are being produced is good news for the alternative adult market. On a cautionary note, however, more variety and spice is needed lest we see the same assembly line mentality (as we've seen in porn) choke the enthusiasm of the video buying public.
