It's amazing what you can do with a few well chosen New York exteriors (beautifully shot, mind you), and one theatrically staged sex scene. Because other than that, Awakening in Blue is pretty ordinary fare, weighed down by some corny dialogue and a premise that suggests that Rick Savage has some kind of "sexual amnesia".
According to the unseen doc, Rick needs an experience that will jolt him out of his lethargy and enable him to make it with his wife, Samantha York. Rick's old friend Satch (newcomer of promise Ron High tower) blows into town. Satch sleeps with Patricia Kennedy and eats alfalfa sprouts, but he also knows of a place where Rick could solve his problems. The place is a weird club where a very attractive naked girl (Paige Pilar) allows customers to fondle her clitoris. Pillar writhes around and shoves anal beads up her butt to some very strange saxophone accompaniment that sounds like snake charmer music.
People in this club sit around in sunglasses looking like they've been to Jack Kerouac's birthday party Amateur tape queen Ginger Thomas also slithers like a snake and gets Snatch on top of her. How this Is supposed to be helping Savage is anybody's guess, but Rick eventually comes in Ginger's face and she thanks him. Bingo, Rick's cured and he can screw his wife with dogged impunity.
Aside from Paige Pillar who reminds you a lot of Kendall Marx, the best thing about the whole video is the haunting saxophone performance of Jay Rodriguez.
