Technically and theatrically, I can see Fox raising a ruckus among porn purists. Looks-wise, Collectible blows the doors off of anything I've seen in a good long time, including some of those old Tannervision concoctions for Western Visuals. Now, whether the effects generator or the wall of a thousand dicks (I'll get to that) makes the sex any better, I don't know. I'm going to have to book a trip with Timothy Leary to answer that one.
Randy Spears is a smug, cold-hearted collector named Ross who talks like some goofy character in Rod Selling's Night Gallery. Ross also has an aloof attitude toward women since he walks ten paces ahead of them at all times.
Ross also employs Jonathan Morgan to fetch him things worth collecting. Why Morgan slips in and out of some lockjawed Irish brogue Is beyond me, anyway, as we learn, Ross' objects d'art include comatose, nude mannequins.
Only Ross is looking for something different. He spots waitress Alexis DeVell in a club. He thinks there's something special about her. Is it the fact that she's blowing Scott Irish, who's wearing a gold hockey mask, while some other gal (Tracey Wynn) keeps looking in the camera defying us to identify her? That sounds pretty special. Besides, I.D. is a major issue at this point because this scene re minds you of the Jupiter run in 2001: A Space Odyssey. It's totally nuts.
DeVell comes back to the house whereupon a naked butler (Mickey Ray) sticks his dick in the avocadoes, and DeVell lathers his penis in the Italian house dressing. As you can see, this is a couples' video. DeVell then jerks off while Spears tongues zombie mannequin Danielle Rogers like a gnat.
During one of DeVell's haunted dreams, a voice tells her "You are not ready yet," and DeVell finds herself trapped in the room of dicks. No, I'm not going to explain it. You have to see it for yourself.
As if you couldn't guess, the plot now takes a turn for the weird. Ross tells DeVell, "If you play this game well enough I could fall for you". I guess she's not ready yet even though she laps at his heels like an obedient cocker spaniel. Believe me, there is a resolution to all this, but you have to be in some kind of strange mood to sit down with The Collectible. Sex-wise, it holds the fort with some fine performances from Bionca, Rogers and Melanie Moore. Likewise, listen for some of the fascinating swings in musical mood throughout this show. But more importantly, light up that j.
