Between Roxy, On Trial and now Indian Summer, Savannah has emerged as a supremely creditable adult actress. She flirts, she teases the life out of you, she has eyes that say more than words can possibly express, and she has phenomena 1 bod y language, besides being so damned cute.
Cynic that I am, I can say unequivocally that Savannah has won me over in spades, and her performance in Indian Summer as the figment of advertising illustrator Randy West's imagination, is all the justification 1 need to make that assessment. When it comes to the sex scene between her and hercreator, the pairing is slow, sensual and agonizingly exquisite.
Just about all the love scenes in Indian Summer are keyed this way, with deliberate tempo, lots of leg action, slowpansand luscious, exciting female flesh. This is just about the best series of men/women pairings I've ever seen in one adult film, and Tianna in a cameo appearance is breathtakingly memorable.
West and fashion designer Hyapatia Lee are busy professionals who have no time for love. Only, isn't that a title of another Paul Thomas film about people who need rolodexes to hook up romantically? Interestingly enough, Lee in Indian Summer also has an imaginary dream lover, Peter North. Wait, isn't that a plot of another Thomas film, Passages with North also as a dream lover? Sooner or later 1 was half expecting Lee to whip out a bottle of baby oil and begin giving massages to Biff Malibu as in The Masseuse. Well, it's more like The Agony and The Ecstasy with a naked Biff in construction boots striking poses like a Michaelangelo painting on the Sistine Chapel ceiling. I'm not kidding. And with that satanic goatee of his, and Biff's name being Damian (The Omen), is someone having fun with us?
Yes, there's a lot of familiar ideas running around in Indian Summer, looking for a movie, and they seemed to have found a highly entertaining one to be in.
Madison and Wayne Summers are wonderful in supporting roles with Madison being cute and weird as a sushi-loving buttinski matchmaker who keeps lists of friends on A and B columns, with a raspy, exasperated Wayne turning into Bruce Willis right before my very eyes. At least he's sounding more and more like him in his dialogue scenes. Just close your eyes and listen, especially when Wayne tells Madison, "you've got the most beautiful ass I've ever seen." It's Bruce.
Matchmaker Madison figures that West needs a woman before all that unused semen backs up in his brain. And knowing Lee's condition, it doesn't take Oprah Winfrey to figure out we've got a topic for the next show: "Men who fantasize about figments and highly oversexed dark-haired lingerie designers who will eventually fall in love with them by the end of a movie."
Love wins out in more ways than one. Figments North and Savannah who express intense jealousy over their creators' love lives, eventually hook up while West and Lee walk off into the sunset realizing that perfect fantasies are nowhere as exciting as "all the little imperfections that make us human."
Something to think about, and a film not to miss.
