There’s a stumbling block when a videomaker wants to do something a bit ambitious and story-oriented, with characterization and lots of dialog – the actors. Right now there are only a handful of performers in gayporn who are capable of handling more than themselves, who can take on roles that call for real acting. Unfortunately, they’re not in this video.

Young Cadets is set in some sort of military academy. Erich Lange is hot and bothered over his new roomie, Chris Williams, but Chris is such a stud that he comes off too butch and unapproachable. That’s the story anyway, but you have to use your imagination because Williams is actually quite a creampuff. Lange and Williams are physically competent, but just can’t keep to their dialog (especially Williams, who misreads his lines with atrocious grammar).

If the two headliners fumble, Mike Gregory and Derek Jensen pick up the balls. Jensen seduces Lange in a tent; Gregory seduces two more cadets in the locker room. It’s totally believable, given the sex appeal these two generate. I only wish they had a scene together.
