Well-written, elaborate and very funny with enough erotic moments to put it on anybody's Best of the Year list, producer Joyce Snyder's third installment of the successful Raw Talent series nails this industry with biting satire. Almost everyone and everything gets it. . . Henri Pachard, The Dark Brothers, Candida Roylle, Joyce Snyder herself, industry price cutting, underage porn stars, videos, bad distribution deals, exclusive contracts, etc. The behind-the-scenes look at the making of porn videos rivals that of Pachard and Bruce Seven's successful Conflict.
Jerry Butler reprises the role of an actor trying to break into the world of movies while detoured on Porn Freeway. Ona Zee, in a fine performance, plays the producer who must yield to distributor Rick Savage (an on-target, hilarious supporting role.) Newcomer April plays the cute, jaded porn star and Stephanie Rage is the newcomer. Her mentor, Scott Baker, plays the director with an obsession for toilet scenes. The sequence where he makes love to a crapper is priceless. The strange characters are in abundance, as are the locations, settings, and plot twists.
I don't want to give too much away, however one scene not to be missed is the video-within-a-video satire of the Dark Brothers, with Jerry Butler and three black ladies on the subway. Although the producers have chosen to excise most seduction or foreplay from the sex scenes, a few stand out, most notably, the sequences involving the sweltering blonde Stephanie Rage. Her, Ona Zee and Savage go crazy in one three-way, while her lesbian scene with April elicits great warmth.
The technical aspects are mostly well-handled (a few bad edits exist), but it's the fine acting, script and well-placed sex scenes that makes this one a winner. We haven't seen the packaging yet, however Raw Talent III certainly shapes up as one of 1988's very best sexvids.
