It's rare that a softcore feature delivers anything these days -- nudity, laughs, action or any thrills, anything. So, we're elated to report this little sexy sci-fi farce comes through with all the goods with flying colors.
The first entry in a series of R-rated flicks from Phantom Productions through Paramount Home Video, Dr. Alien knows exactly what its genre is all about, and doesn't care. What a relief. A little tease, a lot of goofing, and some tacky special effects go a long way here.
A high school nerd (Billy Jacoby) is chosen as a guinea pig in a mysterious experiment conducted by buxom bio teacher Judy Landers. Seems that she's really an alien in disguise who transforms the geek into a sexual dynamo. Soon, he can't help but get ravaged by all of the school's hottest gals. a little phallic-looking gizmo pops out of the kid's head and voila! If only he could attract the attention of this swell, homespun chick (Olivia Barash) he really likes . . .
Simple stuff, right? Thankfully, movie vet Dave De Coteau (Breeders) has lots of fun with the material, throwing in some nifty spoofs of other material (Close Encounters, 50's sitcoms and more), lots of cameos -- Linnea Quigley, Edy Williams, Ginger Lynn Allen, Troy Donahue and lots of familiar and fresh nude bods.
Dr. Alien is a welcome antidote for the current, R-rated romp market that appears to be in rotten condition these days.
