I think that if a month goes by without a black-oriented video whose plot is the search for a star for a black-oriented video, I'll kiss my wife, eat salad or do some other equally distasteful task. Reality check: isn't this plot a bit overused? Granted that it seems to work with every race and genre, I hope nobody in the black sector is trying for a monopoly.

Sean Michaels is the casting director, Steve St. Croix is the head of security, and Jean Valjean is the producer of an upcoming production to be called... Black Velvet 3! (Talk about your coincidences!) Sean likes Domonique Simone, who shows up for an audition — and Sean auditions her in what is arguably the tape's best scene. St. Croix doesn't tell Janet Jacme that he's not the head of casting when she shows him (and us) just how well she can screw on screen. Then Domonique gets it on a second time, this time with potential co-star Gerry Pike.

In case you were wondering what happened to the rest of the cast, look for the inevitable party scene — which is also where secretary Heather St. Clair convinces Michaels that she should be in front of the camera, in the feature's only anal coupling. Cross-cut with this is a threesome with the rarely-seen Jeannie Pepper, Lana Sands and Julian St. Jox. Too bad those flashbacks to the rest of the cast chatting away at the cocktail party ruin the pacing and seriously detract from the heat of these otherwise excellent scenes.

Retailers who have customers with a yen for black-oriented or interracial features won't go wrong with this one.
