This is the one that is most often listed as "the greatest" hardcore picture of all time, and for valid reasons. The story, a takeoff on Pygmalion and/or My Fair Lady is compelling, and the acting is not only good, it's Hollywood level. Jamie Gillis plays a wealthy sex researcher who makes a bet with a lady friend that he can take a trampy, Parisian street whore and turn her into an exquisite, $1000-a-night society callgirl, and win the Golden Rod Girl award at an annual, high-society party/orgy. He sets to work, transforming Constance Money from a loose-lipped, twangy-voiced, dumpy waif into a glamorous, sensual sex goddess. Constance Money is nothing less than magnificent, playing both extremes with sincerity and warmth. The cinematography is creative and visually provocative, and the music fits the mood and setting marvelously. Gillis reached his peak here, but it was so high, he continued to put in highly acclaimed performances long after he did this impressive show.
