Reviews

Watching both parts of this award winner should be a prerequisite for viewers who wish to preserve their first amendment rights and want to get their jollies at the same time – and for censors who want to deep-six both activities.  The initial 15 minutes recount highlights from “Part 1,” an intriguing courtroom drama.  This film takes a daring stance, confronting its accusers in a rather grown-up manner and providing scalding sex, among the best filmed during the last year.

Never are the deliberations boring, especially when presided over by Judge Henri Pachard and defended by Britt Morgan, who also does a first-rate acting job.  The sex takes the form of flashback and film clips shown to the jury as evidence, like the MTV-style Jeanna Fine/Savannah coupling.  Perhaps it’s due to her buddy Fine being within arms reach, but Savannah is more relaxed and responsive in her hardcore scenes and her innocent sensuality is nicely cultivated here.

Christy Canyon plays a “reformed” performer, a prosecution witness, though written sympathetically.  Her volcanic coupling, intermingled with Fine and Savannah taking on Dough, are a steamy pair of encounters.  The script is hard-hitting without being preachy.  “Give them an inch and they’ll take a mind,” warns Morgan in her closing arguments just prior to this movie’s rather sobering and unresolved ending.  The On Trial series is like erotic spinach: Good for you, but unlike your typical garden variety of greens, it’s mighty arousing too.  You must stock this series.
