Rumors about Bette Davis rolling over in her grave because of Paul Norman's first Jezebel feature are totally unsubtantiated, but this fact doesn't make Jezebel 2 any more substantial. Fact is, like most sequels, it suffers the characteristic bloat: reedy story line and padded-out sex scenes.
Anachronisms also run amok in this set piece of ante bellum sentiments filled with postmortem delivery. In the opening sequence, Sunset Thomas as the title character pleasures herself in a bedroom furnished by Ikea, and during an outdoor dialogue scene when one of the characters is describing Jezebel as a "curious mixture of evil and beauty," we can hear cars from the Hollywood Freeway whizzing by on what sounds like a curious mixture of cheap octane.
Ron Hightower, as the plantation butler (that's equal opportunity castÂing for you), looks like a young Uncle Ben and talks like an old rap artist. Poor Ron gets about as much white girl action as Denzel Washington in The Pelican Brief.
Hightower is left high and dry out of the sexual loop. In one scene, he merely masturbates while the maid (Eve) plays with herself, displaying her ass for Ron's added incentive; and, in another sequence, Hightower oafishly eats Sunset Thomas while her bare bottom is squat-positioned over his face, giving the appearance she's about to land a dump on his forehead in the name of Jefferson Davis.
In this episode, it develops that Jezebel's lover Jon Dough has married Shayla LaVeaux, a fact that doesn't sit well with Jez. She takes a revenge fuck with former suitor Steve Drake who gives Jez the jizz when he pulls out of the missionary position for the feature's only legitimate sex scene. Dough engages Shayla for a romp which exhibits plenty of athletic activity on Shayla's part but no wet shot on Jon's.
The tape ender finds adversaries Shayla and Sunset paired off for as cursory and impassive a 69er you can find— as if they were both trying to hurry up and catch the last train to Atlanta.
Jezebel 2 features a spiffy boxcover, and its contents portrays evidence of a commitment to quality. Only problem is, someone's impounded the evidence.
