The irony of Savannah R.N. is too delicious to pass on without comment or judgment.
It’s about a TV soap opera which is set in a hospital. The show’s on the verge of cancellation (and eventually it is) because it, well, stinks. The members of the cast know it, but their respective egos are too large to accept it. They take to grousing about how the scripts are bad and how the characterizations are shallow. Unfortunately, those are pretty much the same qualities that make up Savannah, R.N., a show in serious need of both a script and personality transplant.
Savannah plays a former porn star who feels the crap she was doing in XXX was better than the stuff she’s doing on the show. While she has a pretty good bead on her material, alas, Savannah’s surrounded by a cast straight out of an autopsy. So either we have a case of good actors ding an excellent job playing bad actors, or a case of everyone just having a bad body day.
The sex scenes are fairly devoid of showing initial penetration, and most of the action, from the angle it’s composed, is far more cable-worthy than XXX-worthy. You’d also have to hold a mirror under a nose or two to see if a post-mortem is in order. For instance, Marc Wallice takes Christine Appeleigh across a desk, and you could set a table on Christine’s stomach with all the commotion she raises.
Savannah appears in two sex scenes, one with Wallice which explores several of the more popular positions –doggie and cowgirl; the other, a strap-on girl/girler with Flame, Savannah doing the pitching. There’s a d.p. scene with Flame, Cal Jammer and Tony Tedeschi, but again, the fact that no anal penetrations is show nullifies the overall effect of this scene. Nice shot of Savannah on the boxcover, but somebody call a doctor!
