With a done-by-the-numbers script, this kinky version of Double Indemnity/Body Heat has Al Sapienza as a recovering sex addict out of jail on probation for assault, meeting a mysterious blonde (Basinger lookalike Kim Dawson) at his girlfriend's (Ginger Lynn Allen) erotic play.

Of course after Dawson sends him smoldering looks, Al is hooked once again on dangerous sex and not even decorous Allen can dissuade him. He meets the trollop for first a rooftop assignation, then more daring semi-public sex. As Al plunges on, Ginger, who herself is a recovering exhibitionist (she's ruined a priest's life when she was 15 by seducing him), tries to save him with her attentions, but Al treats her with indifference. Allen's subplot never goes anywhere, which is a shame, as there was potential for some good flashbacks.

As his desire for sex becomes more and more reckless, Al veers out of control, and Dawson has him bump off her rick husband in case of mistaken identity. (Surprise, the whole scheme was a setup.)

It seems Kim's girlfriend was in Al's sexaholic group, heard about his difficulty with violence, and helped steer Kim to him so he could take care of her problem. I guess the moral here is that men are easily led by their dicks, but it is obscured by all the pointless plot twists, and with the lead actor is so inimical, who cares. You'll see this one show up late night on cable.

Dawson and the rest of the girls in the cast are more then adequate when it comes to skin, and Allen still looks delectable after all these years. Well-shot and directed by an award-winning porn director, Ultimate Taboo never reveals what that taboo is. I'm not to sure the writer ever knew, either.
