Double Crossed is a breakthrough film for Jeff Coldwater, who previously has been associated with shot-on-video stinkers. This is a solid professional effort, a complicated tale of greed and murder in pursuit of a prized object, reminiscent of the Johnny Wadd flick The Jade Pussycat.
The film opens as private eye Joey Silvera photographs Dick Nasty and Stephanie DuValle in flagrante delicto. It turns out Joey has been hired by Wally Wharton to get proof positive of her husband's affair with their babysitter – but Nasty and DuValle turn in a lukewarm scene at best.
Silvera's next client is Deidre Holland, who wants to buy her sister (Shauna) out of a porno ring for $5000, and shows Silvera a tape of Shauna fucking Arnold Schwartz. While Joey's partner (Tony LaBrea) accompanies Deidre to the payoff, Silvera relaxes with La Brea's wife Krista, who performs some energetic oral love, then orgasms mightily as Silvera plows her loins. Meanwhile LaBrea collapses in his office, a knife in his back.
While snooping around Deidre's residence, Silvera meets VixXxen, Deidre's lover. The two girls have a hot gashbash starting in the shower, as Deidre plays with herself and VixXxen's tongue flicks furiously on Deidre's mount. After a move to the sofa, Deidre gloms on to VixXxen's clit, extracting cries of ecstasy from the petite blonde. To see such well-tanned, totally nude (no heels!) bodies writhing in passion is a feast for sapphophiles everywhere, and a clear potential nominee for Best Girl/Girl Scene – Film.
The plot resurfaces, with Deidre admitting there is no sister and, as thins later develop, Silvera is to search for the crystal dildo of Catherine The Great so Desire can swap it for a blackmail tape of her making love to Colt Steele. The viewer, of course, gets to see what's on the tape, and it's steamy enough to remember at awards time.
The finale has a plot twist that's been hinted at earlier, but all in all, this is a sophisticated crime story with touches of dark humor, solid acting and some searing sex.
