I thought I was watching a sequel to Immortal Desire by the time I was halfway through Checkmate. They're similar in that you won't know what the heck is going on. They're different in that the sex is a turn-on instead of a turn-off.
The show starts out with a rare -- unique in fact -- appearance in a hardcore tape by Venus Delight (a softcore girl who used to be Cruel Carla in boxing tapes) engaged in a first-class solo scene.
Cut to Dyanna Lauren, who teaches Felecia the tricks of girl-girl love. Then the King, played by Mark Davis (did I mention that this is set around the time of Camelot and King Arthur?) has two wenches, Kaitlyn Ashley and Yvonne, entertain him (and us -- good stuff!). Two women who just happen to be there, Debi Diamond and Anna Malle, provide the requisite girl/girl. A weak story (it's all been an international chess match?) just doesn't make it, and brings the rating down. Rod Serling would have tossed this script in a second.
But the costumes and sets are great, the cast is very attractive and the videography is perfect, as it is on all Wave/Vivid releases. Steer your story-hating customers toward this one.
