Remember when you used to go to the movies and see short subjects along with the full-length feature? A Is For Asia has three shorts: an opener, where Ed Powers and Asia Carrera talk about the feature itself; a B&W "introduction to Ed Powers," with what appear to be outtakes from Powers' "Dirty Debts" series; and a 20-minute featurette called Don't Fool Around, which mirrors the main feature's theme: can love survive even if both partners are porn stars?

The couple in question is Carrera and Jonathan Morgan, while the kindly director of it all is Bud Lee, here adopting his real-life wife's stage surname. While the angst-ridden dialogue occasionally rings true, the non-sex performances are straight out of the John Saxon School For Overacting. After a slow opening three-way with T.T. Boy and Marc Wallice, Asia in fact does the promised anal scenes (her first) with Morgan and in the finale with Tom Byron. While those are reasonably stimulating, the best action here is the all-girl scenes. Best is Anna Malle's and Bridgette Monroe's poolside lickfest, wherein the gals trade tit licks and Monroe tongue-fucks Malle to ecstasy while Morgan broods on a nearby couch.

The Powers short opens with Ed pondering (in glorious black-and-white) whether his on-camera exploits are affecting his "marriage" to cute newcomer Lori Michaels. In his dreams. Powers imagines Michaels in a very hot and sensual scene with Tony Tedeschi that features lots of kissing and caressing. Powers wakes up into color, and as Michaels rides his cock reverse-cowgirl fashion, he has flashbacks to her dream-coupling with Tedeschi. It's Michael's easy sensuality that sells the piece -- and this tape.

Retailers won't go wrong stocking this oddball mixture, and in fact should recommend it to customers for just that reason. But it can't hurt to mention Asia's debut anals.
