The suspension of disbelief that's so eloquently addressed in the film Basic Instinct is put to test under the most demanding of conditions in Ambitious Desires, a T&A'er about four girls who will "do whatever it takes to make it in Hollywood."
Julie Strain going to Harvard? It strains the imagination, but Harvard-bound Julie is the central character in this freeway pile-up of pretty boy bad actors, where-the-fuck-did-that-come-from morality speeches and gratuitious shower scenes. Thank God for gratuitious shower scenes.
Quicker than you can say denim cutoffs, the girls wind up washing cars in the semi-nude at the mansion of a movie producer who, judging by his girth, has eaten the entire cast including the key grip from his last film.
Don't expect Ambitious Desires to take you to too many places you haven't been before because you have been there before. Enjoy it for the fact that it might be the first sexploitation film in history where the women outact the men by an embarrassingly wide degree of expertise.
Crammed with enough moral justication to nuke Hollywood for the overall good of common man, Ambitious Desires is, nevertheless, an uncommonly good piece of T&A fluff if accepted for what it is.
Guy: "I see beauty in you that sems to radiate from your inner self." Girl: "You really mean that, don't you?" Just know what you're in for.
