The difference between the "B" movies of yesteryear and today's crop is much more than the difference between being an inexpensive lead-in to a major theatrical release and a direct-to-video quickie. In the old days, contract players like Dan Duryea and Lizabeth Scott were not only quick studies, but highly accomplished actors. Even more notably, the original "B" screenwriters had more latitude and hence produced edgier, sexier material than the "A" pictures.

Thus was born film noir, a genre often attributed to any current "B" film which merely contains the shadow of an overhead fan or the lingering smoke of a cigarette. Teach Me Again revolves around a college campus threesome, tosses in all the classic noir elements - sex, jealousy, murder, revenge - but proves that imitation does not necessarily engender flattery.

However, as a piece of softcore porn, the film is bountifully stuffed with ripe, nubile young bodies who jump in the sack quicker than one can say "The Postman Always Rings Twice." To its credit, the babes look even better undressed than they do in the numerous revealing dresses that have somehow become standard fashion wear of the post-graduate set.

Judy Thompson, an engaging brunette with a wholesome rack, is naked within two minutes of the opening credits, humping away in what will be one of many sizzling yrysts. Her boyfriend, something of a cad, soon winds up deader than Caesar and it looks like jealous Judy is gonna take the rap. Fortunately, the arrival of a foxy female friend from 'way back (Kim Yates, blonde and leggy) triggers off a lesbian liaison … plus a wave of suspicion. Also sharing the stink of red herring is Judy's Professor (John Logan), a guy who looks about as comfortable espousing on the philosophical doctrine of morality as Spiro Agnew might be with his trousers down in a Dave Friedman grinder.

The perverted Prof is given to spiking his students' drinks with aphrodisiacs, but the controversial date rape all-too-neatly dissolves into another sex scene, which includes another girl (Chris McCatti) whose soft Asian form blissfully clouds the issue.

The cast struggles with a script that carries all the baggage and contemporized noir clichés, but none of the dramatic payoff. The Last Seduction this ain't. We suggest you stock Teach Me Again for the skin, and leave the noir to those who do it best.
