You have to wonder just which expletives were zinging around Bud Lee’s office when he saw this tape in its finished state. It’s hard to believe he wasn’t furious that every potentially hot scene in this pleasant little couples effort was horrendously mangled in what looks to be the Great Editing Bay Massacre of ’98. The relentless looping is the good part; it’s the avalanche of quick-cut P.O.V. switch-offs that brings the migraines out in full bloom.
Perhaps a re-edit wouuldn’t be a bad idea, because Ashley Renee’s attempt to make a decision between her staid military officer husband (Jonathan Morgan) and her exciting artist lover (Steve Hatcher) features some bright moments when they’re allowed to flow, notably during her d.p. with Hatcher and Ian Daniels and a frenetic standing coupling outdoors with Hatcher. Tom Byron’s office romance with Julie Rage manages to escape the editing monster for the most part (who, in turn, escapes having his or her name listed in the credits), but their anal-free desktop tryst doesn’t quite live up to expectations.
