If Marcel Marceau is a god to the speech-impaired, the Tia Bella's character in The Look runs a close second as high priestess. Then again, you could pretty much say that for the entire cast, which is summarily handed a blank stare impersonating as a script. Check out the first 10 minutes of dead air and furtive glances if you think this is an exaggeration.
Based loosely (very loosely) on the vampire flick The Hunger, The Look suffers from hunger in other areas aside from the scant dialogue/story line department. As a substitute, a vague attempt at atmosphere can be accepted, but hokum is something best left to a Mel Brooks flick.
While Bella continues to walk around in a catatonic trance, the victim of a bite, Sunny (replete with a platinum hairdo that makes her look like wrestler Ric Flair) searches out additional victims to bring back to her lair —in this instance, a wrought-iron bed with minimal "lair" accessories. Bella's boyfriend, Marc Wallice, similarly gets bitten and also walks around in a stupor, hitting on women. In other words, he's being Marc Wallice.
As Bella's modeling school mentor, Laura Palmer is about the only thing that resembles life in this bloodless rendering. Her sex scene with Nick East offers a recommendation but not necessarily an endorsement. The rest of the sex dies like a vampire at high noon.
