Conrad's Heart of Darkness has been filmed in various forms over the years, but none has been as erotic, or ended as happily as Stuart Canterbury's adult version, Africa Rising.
Mike Horner is Marlowe, a corporate exec sent to African to find fellow VIP Kurtzie (Traci Angel), who's disappeared in the jungle while establishing an corporate branch. Horner has several sexual liaisons, real and imagined, on his journey into the veldt, where he eventually finds the blonde beauty who's found joy in nudity and sexual adventure.
This production on film gets high marks for its South African location, soundtrack, script and acting. The sex, however, leaves something to be desired. Some scenes progress too rapidly, others are not varied enough, and some never get to the pop. The two girl/girl scenes are more fully developed.
This is still a highly watchable film that compensates in production value for what it lacks in heat.
