We so hate to compare.  But this little ditty is so precious, we'd have to say it was akin to a younger, fresher version of an Andrew Blake feature, so full of delightful eye candy is it.  Or, at the very least, it holds its own with any Euro-vid that Private has to offer.

British producer/DJ Howie B.'s classy, erotic CD/DVD/video foray is in essence seven music videos in one package, with songs by original artists (including Fantastic Plastic Machine's Green Door and producer Howie B.'s own Only if it Hurts) beautifully illustrating each vignette.  It's an artistic tribute to '70s softcore, but with a slicker, sexier, more updated feel.  Dispel all notions of any sort of MTV-concocted froth: These music vids couldn't be further from that particular universe.

While each segment is, in and of itself, a complete vignette -- and all stand perfectly on their own -- there is a frame of voyeurism woven throughout, as a man witnesses bits and pieces of couples in all their couplings.

The fetish photo Gallery sequence could be something straight off a Parisian fashion show's catwalk, with models far surpassing the caliber of, say, Versace's.  All don naughty pervy fashions, and gather to watch a sort of transgendered Geisha loll around in a mesmerizing take on Kabuki theater. This delicious segment segues nicely into the following Burlesque sequence.  Complete with fan dancer, this part hearkens fondly (and fondlingly) back to the days of yore, when a strip tease meant teasing entertainment, and not just a line of bored-looking women onstage, robotically excising articles of clothing.  The music is big and sassy, zeroing in on one particular lovely doing her titillating, bump 'n' grind version of the balloon dance.  Pin,s anyone?

Excellently produced, with pristine editing, videography, music and direction (by award-winning director Jacob Pander), all of which should be noted come awards time.

We reviewed the video; the DVD version includes a fetish photo gallery, scene-by-scene breakdown, and more, including a preview of the director's award-winning infrared porn-cult film, The Operation [a Spotlight Pick in the May issue of AVN -- Ed.].  This is something that will appeal to a wide range of tastes, be they modern, classic, or fetish.  Stock big!
